I'm new to linux, and i have installed linux slackware 64bit. After a complete setup i downloaded the latest Nvidia proprietary drivers, the binary package from nvidia.com.

I have a geforce gts250.it's the first time i encounter this issue. I have already installed the driver with my old monitor (an lg flatron with max 1680x1050)and it always worked fine.
